As an artist and new mom, I was inspired by the themes of Molly Smith Metzler's play Cry It Out to create a series of drawings of moms and their babies, challenging myself to draw them during nap time.  Working with charcoal and under a set time forced immediacy in the process - highlighting the fact that not only is "free" time so fleeting while caring for a baby, but so is this period in life, when babies grow and change so rapidly.

The series was on display in Greenville, South Carolina in April and May 2019, during the run of the play Cry It Out at The Warehouse Theatre.
